The Word on the Street
UPDATE: We no longer recommend Healthrider ellipticals as there are much better choices for you on the market today. Check out our Best Ellipticals Under $2000 section to find a comparable elliptical for your home.
The Healthrider Stride Trainer 900 features a new Intensity Stride Power Ramp™ that adjusts your intensity for a better workout on your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves.
The One-Touch™ controls built into the handles allows you to digitally control the SMR Silent Magnetic Resistance for quick changes to the intensity levels, and the iPod® compatible music port allows you to play your favorite music through the two speakers on the Intermix Acoustics™ 2.0 sound system.
While users note in elliptical reviews that they find the Stride Trainer 900 appealing and appreciate its smooth ride, they have a few concerns with it, and the problems are compounded by less than helpful customer service provided by Healthrider.
One of the main concerns include frustrations with iFit Live, a new technology launched in 2009 that still has a few bugs with the Google Maps interface feature.
If you are looking for a machine that specifically offers iFit Live, current users suggest you wait until the later part of 2010, or even 2011, for these issues to be resolved.
Our Thoughts
These are exciting times for elliptical machines with new technology and improved components installed on 2010 models. Unfortunately, the $1,299 Healthrider Stride Trainer 900 elliptical is lagging behind.
While it does have in-handle controls, a 30-degree power ramp and an adjustable stride, plus the optional iFit Live compatibility, these features are found on many other new models from ICON Fitness, including the NordicTrack Pathfinder and Proform 1050E Elliptical, both selling for $999.
Save yourself $300 and get the same features on the better designed rear-drive Pathfinder or the 1050E.

*UPDATE* The HealthRider H95E is no longer available and has been replaced for the new year. The new models, including the Hybrid Trainer, the H50e and the Stride Trainer 900, offer slight improvements over the previous models. Check out the new models here: New HealthRider ellipticals.
Expert Reviews
“The H95e is a significant upgrade to its predecessors and may be a worthwhile investment: the heart rate monitor can help people make the most of workouts; the incline and adjustable stride enable the targeting of different muscle groups; and the many iFit options help keep exercise interesting. The fact that HealthRider has lengthened its warranty for this model is encouraging. Still, ellipticals with better warranties are offered by Reebok, Sole, and NordicTrack.” -EllipticalReviews.net

The following user reviews come from Buzzilions…
Healthrider Stride Trainer 900 User Manual Pdf
“Very poor quality. Defective parts right out of the box prevents me from fully assembling it. I’ve had this thing for two months and not a single calorie has been burned by this machine, unless you count hauling the box in from the truck.”
Healthrider Stride Trainer 900 User Manual Instructions
“I am very happy with the overall quality of the machine. It has a heavy duty feel to it, and I like the control panel because it is easy to use.I have exercised on it 3 times now, and my wife has twice, and we are very happy with it. The roller wheels were a little loud at first, but they just needed to be broken in. It is quiet, smooth, and everything is working correctly.”
“Overall, I am extremely satisfied! This was a great purchase, and I would purchase the same machine again!”
Conclusion
Healthrider Stride Trainer 900 User Manual Download
The HealthRider H95e Rear Drive elliptical is the best you’re going to get from HealthRider which is, to be honest, a bit sad. Like the above review said, you’re going to get a nicer elliptical from Sole, Reebok, and NordicTrack but if you’re getting the H95 at a Black Friday deal or you’ve found it used somewhere, it’s an okay deal. Brand new, HealthRider has it priced too high but it’s not a bad elliptical once it is up and running.
