The Bushnell Tour X has the same measuring accuracy and maximum measuring distances as the Bushnell Pro X2. However, both the Bushnell Pro X2 and Tour X have been discontinued. The newest Bushnell Golf Rangefinder, the Pro XE, is better than the Pro X2 because it has a longer measurement range, better optics, visual flag lock confirmation and compensates distances for temperature and altitude, in addition to slope, so you should purchase the Pro XE instead.

Most Popular Bushnell Golf Rangefinder – Tour V4 Shift: The Bushnell Tour V4 Shift is the most popular Bushnell golf rangefinder because it is much cheaper than the Pro XE and X2 and has the most popular features of the Pro XE and Pro X2 including slope compensation, visible slope switch and vibration flag lock technology.

Cheapest Bushnell Golf Rangefinder – Tour V4 Jolt: The Bushnell Tour V4 Jolt is the cheapest Bushnell golf rangefinder because it only comes with vibration flag lock technology and does not come with slope compensation or a visible slope switch.

Bushnell Pro X2 vs Tour V4 Shift vs Tour V4 Slope vs Tour V4 Jolt vs Tour X – Differences and Similarities

The Bushnell Pro X2 has a range of 450 yards to flags (1300 yards max) while the Tour V4 Shift and Slope have a range of 400 yards (1000 yards max). Another difference is that the Bushnell Pro X2 has a 6X magnification while the Tour V4 Shift and Slope have a 5X magnification. Also the Pro X2 is accurate to a 1/2 yard for distances under 125 yards while the Tour V4 Shift and Slope are accurate to 1 yard.

Bushnell Tour X has been discontinued by Bushnell – Bushnell decided to discontinue the Tour X. Purchase the Pro X2 or Tour V4 shift instead.

Bushnell Pro X2 has a better ranging accuracy and longer maximum measuring distances for highly reflective objects and flags than the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift, Slope or Jolt golf rangefinders – The Bushnell Pro X2 has a measuring accuracy of +/- 0.5 yards for distances up to 125 yards while the Tour V4 Shift, Slope and Jolt models have a measuring accuracy of only +/- 1 yard for the same distances. The Bushnell Pro X2 has a maximum measuring distance for highly reflective objects of 1300 yards while the Tour V4 models have a maximum measuring distance of only 1000 yards. The Bushnell Pro X2 has a maximum measuring distance for flags of 450 yards while the Tour V4 models have a maximum measuring distance of only 400 yards. Any of these rangefinders will give you much more accurate distance readings than any of the less expensive golf rangefinders or Garmin watches, such as the Garmin Approach S60 or Garmin S20.

Pro X2 is the only Bushnell golf rangefinder with E.S.P.2 (Extreme. Speed. Precision. 2nd generation) – E.S.P.2 is Bushnell’s advanced second generation ranging technology, which provides the fastest, most accurate ranging measurement based on target conditions.

Only the Bushnell Pro X2 and Tour V4 Shift have Slope-Switch Technology – Easily toggle a switch on the side of the device to turn off the Slope function so that it is legal for tournament play. You can turn off the slope function on the other devices but it requires a little more work.

Only the Bushnell Pro Pro X2 and Tour X come with a Red Display – With the simple press of the Mode button, the Dual Display Technology will enable you to easily toggle between a bright red vivid display or sharp black display depending on how much light there is.

Only the Pro X2 comes with a metal housing that is waterproof – All of the other units are just water resistant.

Pro X2 has more features than the Tour X but is more expensive – The Tour X has many of the features found in the Pro X2, such as slope compensation, the ability to turn off the slope feature, vibration flaglock, 6X magnification, etc. However, the Pro X2 also has some additional features, including a fully-waterproof metal housing and a simple toggle switch on the side of the device to turn the slope feature on or off. To turn off the slope feature on the Tour X, you have to exchange the red faceplate for the black one which is really inconvenient. Also the Pro X2 is more expensive than the Tour X and was released to market about a year later in 2017.

There are four models of the Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder: Tour V4 (no slope compensation), Tour V4 Jolt (no slope), Tour V4 Shift (slope) and Tour V4 Slope. The biggest differences between these four models are that only the Tour V4 Shift and Tour V4 Slope come with the slope compensation feature and there are slight differences in the physical dimensions and weights.
Common features found in the Bushnell Pro X2, Tour V4 Shift, Tour V4 Slope, Tour V4 Jolt and Tour X
The Bushnell Pro X2, Tour V4 Shift, Tour V4 Slope, Tour V4 Jolt and Tour X all come with PinSeeker and JOLT technology – the device will vibrate after the laser has locked onto the flag
All come with Bushnell Golf’s patented Slope Technology – adjusts distances based on the amount of uphill or downhill incline (slope) or elevation changes
Disable Slope Feature – All come with the ability to turn off the slope function to make them legal for tournament play.
Water Resistant – All of these units are also water resistant which means they can be used in rainy conditions but cannot be submerged underwater

Bushnell Pro X2 has a better ranging accuracy and longer maximum measuring distances to highly reflective objects and flags than any of the Bushnell Tour V4 golf rangefinders – The measuring accuracy for the Bushnell Pro X2 is +/- 0.5 yards for distances up to 125 yards while the accuracy for the Bushnell Tour V4 (Shift, Slope and Jolt) will only be +/- 1 yard for the same distances. The maximum measuring distance to highly reflective objects for the Bushnell Pro X2 is 1300 yards while the maximum measuring distance for the Tour V4 (Shift, Slope and Jolt) is only 1000 yards. The maximum measuring distance for flags for the Bushnell Pro X2 is 450 yards while the maximum measuring distance for the Tour V4 (Shift, Slope and Jolt) is only 400 yards.

The maximum range depends on the reflectivity of the target. The maximum distance for most objects, such as hazards, is 1000 yards / 914 meters while for highly reflective objects the maximum is 1300 yards / 1189 meters.

The laser analyzes multiple individual measurements to the target and calculates and displays the best possible result. Target variations such as reflectance, shape and color can affect the accuracy of a laser measurement, but E.S.P.2 automatically assesses the conditions and improves the measurement up to 1/2 yard accuracy whenever possible from 5–125 yards. When this occurs, display readout precision will be refined to 1/10th yard. For those who prefer their distances displayed in whole units (full yard or meters), E.S.P.2 can be disabled in the Setup Menu.

Slope-Switch Technology exclusive to the Bushnell Pro X2 and Tour V4 Shift – Only the Bushnell Pro X2 and Tour V4 Shift have Slope-Switch Technology that enables any golfer to easily toggle a switch on the side of the device to turn on or off the Slope function. This allows you to conveniently turn on the Slope function to get compensated distances around the course when you want it and turn it off to turn this rangefinder into a USGA-conforming device that is legal for tournament play.

The Bushnell Pro X2 is Bushnell’s best golf laser rangefinder. It was released to market in 2017 so it comes with Bushnell’s best industry-leading innovations. The Pro X2 will allow you to get range readings from 5–1300 yards / 5–1189 meters. It measures only 1.5 x 4 x 3 inches and weighs only 8 ounces. The Pro X2 comes with 2nd Generation E.S.P. (Extreme. Speed. Precision.) that will deliver extremely fast target acquisition and incredible 1/2 yard accuracy and 1/10 precision from 5–125 yards and +/- 1 yard accuracy from 126–1300 yards. It provides yardages to flags from as far as 450 yards out It is also wrapped in fully-waterproof metal housing to give the golfer the ultimate accurate and durable golf laser rangefinder.

Why is the Bushnell Pro X2 better than the Bushnell Tour V4 Golf Laser Rangefinder?

Accuracy: When it comes to rangefinders, accuracy is first and foremost. The Bushnell Pro X2 is nothing short of accurate, and the PinSeeker technology recognizes flags even when they are limp. This especially comes in handy when you’re embarking on an unfamiliar course. Using the rangefinder eliminates the need for you to make guesses yourself, and you can laser anything on the course, not just what’s built into the memory as with GPS devices.

Portability: The game of golf is all about being in the zone, so don’t expect the Bushnell Pro X2 to weigh you down. Weighing only 8 ounces, measuring only 4 inches in length and sporting an ergonomic design, this rangefinder is comfortable and easy to hold. When not in use, you can attach the rangefinder case to your golf bag using the clip.

Technology: The PinSeeker technology included with this rangefinder is exceptional and adds a nice touch when all you want to do is capture the flag without capturing background target distances. When more than one object is captured, the closer object will be featured on the LCD screen. Even if you do have an unsteady hand, the technology in this rangefinder is state of the art, which means it will still do an excellent job of finding and estimating the range.

Fast: Not only can you count on this rangefinder to be accurate, but also it’s fast. The yardage shows up almost instantly, which means you won’t be holding anyone up when you use the device. In fact, trying to determine the distance on your own takes far longer than using this rangefinder. And you won’t have to worry about weather conditions affecting how this device operates; it remains equally fast and accurate on calm or windy days.

No Added Costs: Maybe you have considered a GPS unit, as many people have. GPS devices may offer many nice perks, but they are also much more involved and require that you download courses and spend money paying for the service each month. With the Bushnell Pro X2, there are no added fees, no annual service fees and no need to download anything. It’s simple, practical and smart, offering the results you need without any extra hassle.

What’s Not So Great About the Bushnell Pro X2 Golf Laser Rangefinder?

Battery Life: This rangefinder is powered by a 3-volt battery, so you’ll always want to carry a backup and make sure that the battery is fully charged. Batteries are one of the few things that haven’t quite kept up with technology, so you understand that not only can they leave you high and dry, but also they are costly to replace. And the Bushnell Pro X2, although it offers the utmost practicality, has been known to be a battery hog.

Unsteady: This rangefinder is certainly accurate, but it does take some time to get the steady hand it requires. The device can be hard to focus on a flag, and if you don’t get a steady shot, you won’t be able to capture it. There are various ways to get the steady hand that you need, so really it will be a matter of finding what’s right for you. Some have recommended using both hands and tucking in the elbows, while others have suggested using the golf cart for support.

Should you buy the Bushnell Pro X2 Golf Laser Rangefinder instead of the Bushnell Tour V4 or Tour X?

The Bushnell Pro X2 Golf Laser Rangefinder is a smart purchase for the avid golfer. It’s lightweight, ergonomic and won’t slow down your game. You’ll be a competitive force on the course, and the accuracy is top notch. This added confidence takes away from you having to second guess yourself on yardage, and the rangefinder requires no subscriptions or downloads to get the layout of the course. “Just point and go” is the motto here, so get ready to make a true difference in how you play the game of golf.

You should not golf another day without the Bushnell Tour V4 (Shift and Slope), Pro X2 or Tour X Golf Laser Rangefinder by your side. They are the world’s smallest, most advanced and best laser rangefinders for the money. They weigh in at 12 ounces or less and with accuracy from 5 to at least 1000 yards. The Bushnell Tour V4, Pro X2 or Tour X all come with PinSeeker technology with JOLT which allows golfers to quickly zero in on the flag without acquiring background targets and it will provide you with short vibrating pulses once the laser has locked onto the target. The Bushnell Pro X2, Tour X, Tour V4 Shift and Tour V4 Slope all come with Bushnell Golf’s patented Slope Technology which will display the compensated distances based on the hole’s incline/decline or elevation changes. Only the Tour V4 Slope does not allow you to turn off the slope function for tournament play. The Bushnell Tour V4 and Tour V4 Jolt don’t come with slope compensation. The easy interface makes it possible to pan the landscape while still keeping the LCD screen updated between you and your targets. These rangefinders are designed for avid and professional golfers and is the perfect way to improve your game in terms of precision and accuracy.

Bushnell Tour V4 Patriot Pack Rangefinder

The Bushnell Tour V4 Rangefinder features PinSeeker technology with JOLT, allowing the golfer to easily and quickly “zero” in on the flag without acquiring background targets. The Tour V4 weighs only 5.6 ounces and is made to fit into the palm of your hand. It also features an adjustable eyepiece, 5x magnification, and is capable of providing distance from 5 to 1000 yards with one yard accuracy. Like other Bushnell laser rangefinders, the Tour V4 is not dependent upon reflectors, and will provide distance to trees, bunkers, and virtually any object on any golf course. The Tour V4 Patriot Pack includes a Tour V4 laser rangefinder, premium carry case, battery and blue silicone protective skin. This pack is the perfect combination of size, speed, accuracy and Jolt. A portion of the proceeds from every Patriot Pack sold are donated to the Folds of Honor Foundation.

How Bushnell’s Digital Technology Works
The Tour V4 with Pinseeker emits invisible, eye safe, infrared energy pulses. The Advanced Digital microprocessor and ASIC chip (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) results in instantaneous and accurate readings every time. Sophisticated digital technology instantaneously calculates distances by measuring the time it takes for each pulse to travel from the rangefinder, to the target, and back.

Ranging Accuracy
The ranging accuracy of the TOUR V4 is plus or minus one yard/meter under most circumstances. The maximum range of the instrument depends on the reflectivity of the target. The maximum distance for most objects is 700 yards (640 meters) while for highly reflective objects the maximum is 1000 yards (914 meters). Note: You will get both longer and shorter maximum distances depending on the reflective properties of the particular target and the environmental conditions at the time the distance of an object is being measured.
